Gabriel

Gabriel, hands clenched in tiny fists: a boxer's stance, prepared, in utero, for this cold world of happenstance, I see your fuzzy image on the ultrasound and know: I am already lost, despite the pain of love and heartache's cost. Gabriel, tiny feet kicking: come out fighting, prepared for a world that may be less than inviting, I will protect you like a lion guards her cub, I am frightened and awed by the depth of my love. Gabriel, child of my child, firstborn of firstborn, you've mended my heart that was so wounded, and torn.

What a wonderful poem, I love the lines.. "I am frightened and awed by the depth of my love"... nothing like a baby to mend a heart..

A wonderful poem. We just lost another little one who did not make it into the world. One in Sept. and one on Fri. It was my birthday and my son phoned with the sad news.. I am so happy for you. Your love already shines for this new little one. God Bless all of you. Phyl
