Fur Elise
Für Elise in rapid succession,
That's how my mind runs.
In and out. In and out dodging daggers.
A never ending song in spirals,
Perilous and helpless,
Chaos as I puke but the race will continue because it never stops.
Fingers strike the ivory, the ebony, black and white fast as lighting strikes.
Pounding the cranium walls with every note.
In and out, the rhythmic sways as I rock myself.
Just when I think the last note is being hit, another chord is struck and the song doesn't stop.
My brain can't rest. There's no break.
I wonder if the hands get tired, can I break those wrists? Sever the fingers from the hand?
But the pianist plays on.
I don't have the heart to smash his fingers, demolish his bones.
I cover my ears but there's nowhere to hide.
I run and duck for cover.
I bang my head against the wall to drown out the sound but it's in a place that can't be reached.
In and out the notes make a whirlwind that trap my thoughts and make them dance in a spellbound trance,
A trance that slithers further down a slide to instant catastrophe, insanity.
In and out the pianist's hands weave a masterpiece....
Für Elise, my favorite tune that will never let up, that will never end, always constant, always my friend.
