Hiya's Fireflies or Stars Contest ~ August 5, 2026
Sweet scent perfumes the night air where sprites' lanterns glow Flickering fireflies are gleaming Aflutter in the meadow at the aura of dusk until the dance is over when their luminance fades and I mourn their untimely death Then, I shall sing a hymnal song, a melodious elegy to grieve them with unstifled tears as I walk the meadow tomorrow night A trail of light from my candle will keep burning bright until a proper homage to the wee fairy-like creatures has been made and solemnly paid and a wreath of wildflowers has been laid at the gate where the meadow begins
