Funeral For Birthday Bouquet
I watched them fade slowly
losing a bit of color
drooping sadly
hanging their heads in shame
because the birthday
was long over.
Each petal fell
gracefully landing
on the kitchen table
waiting for its sisters
while the seeds followed hurriedly
not wanting to miss the party
about to begin in the garden.
