Funeral Anxiety
Since my son died a little over a year ago,
I have had a hard time at funerals.
I went to one today and at one point,
my heart started racing, my breathing was
shallow and I felt anxiety through the roof
but I wanted to be there, so I tried my best
to control my breathing and slow down my
heartrate, honor the person who died,
and support my friend, but it was tough to be there.
I am glad I went, it is a way to respect
people you care about and this was
family of a good friend
So, I will still do what I need to do to
honor those close to me when they
have a loss, but I will acknowledge this
was hard, and I need to give myself space
to process it and maybe one day it won't be so hard.
