Fulfillment
Sitting
The plush grass beneath my feet
Cushioning my body an bringing me comfort
I grab a blade of grass seed and chew on it
Its crunchy ripe flavor stimulating my taste buds
I gaze into the blue sky
Admire the puffy white clouds looming closely overhead
See the setting sun from over a yonder tree line
The Sun slowly fading away with the time
Starting to turn the sky a tint of orange
The breeze is soft and gentle
And sweetly combs through my hair and brushes against my skin
Sweeping through the grass
As if it were the hair of the Earth
Gently swaying it from side to side
As it sweeps over the rolling country hills
And through the trees of the forest
Then I look to my left and see a highway
Full of cars roaring from in and out of town
On their way to unknown destinations
They drive by too quickly to notice all of this
And move too quickly to observe this beauty
And enjoy all the simple pleasures in life
The race may be for some
But it is not for me
I enjoy a much simpler way of life
And take in the beauty of the world around me
And like to slow down to enjoy it on occasion
I don’t enjoy competing with others
To see who gains the most wealth, fame, or fortune
At the end of life
I don’t want to spend time worrying about it
So while others search for fulfillment from the race
I’ll find my fulfillment from sitting
Right here
