Frustrated Cat

I have a much-used bird feeder outside my window pane, To entertain my cat Jefferson who growls at birds in vain! Jeff sprawls upon the back of a couch chattering in frustration, As birds just inches away cause him further consternation! Hordes of finches leer at him while pecking at the seeds. Flickering their tails at Jeff, they fly away seeking other needs. Blue jays create a ruckus that causes him to hunch his back, But the jays ignore him and continue to enjoy their snack! Little chickadees flit about dining on a seed or two, then flee, And Jeff can only glare at them as they settle in a nearby tree! Gentle mourning doves stop by to partake of my bountiful largess. Tho' they're a bit more gracious, Jeff swishes his tail nonetheless! When wily squirrels stop by to mooch, Jeff really gets upset! He'll hiss and spit at them considering them a major threat! After a while he will tire of the game and call a truce, Flopping in my lap for a nap as if to say, "What's the use!"
