Frozen
I walked across a frozen pond
Stiff and cold the thick ice
So clear I could see the fish below
Scattering as my shadow cast a
Glance across their path
Tip toe I moved assuredly
Listening to the chill wind
Whistling in my wake
Trees in the distance
A sign of land and tranquility
A safety net opening their
Branches yielding beckoning
My chilled soul to hurry
Before the darkness erupts
Ah at last a warm fire
Warming these weary bones
