From Zero To Sixty

How did this happen?
No one stepped on the gas.
I didn't say that I wanted this.
All I said was you make me laugh.

We took a vow of friendship
and we both seemed content.
But in zero to sixty seconds
the whole plan changed
now I want you with a passion
that I can't really explain

How did this happen?
I never saw the signs
I'm mad that everything has changed
but ever so intrigued at the same time.
Can anyone just be friends anymore?
