Notes About The Poem

Inspired by Tennyson's The Burial of Love'. So concice. So compact, but tells a story that seems so much larger. Unwittingly you become those words. He creates a universe in the reader for a short while to be felt, understood and empathized. If ever I am able to such at a whim, I will have achieved my dreams.

From Verses Heard

To become the words
In verses heard
Respoken in a
Starless universe

Each letter
A star giving birth
peered together
A cosmic hearth

Ideas form
New worlds are born
Rivers, storms
Continents torn

Mountains, springs
Valleys green and lush
A falcon’s wings
Soaring above the brush

And man
In his tender infancy
Struggles then stands
And look upon me

And dreams what he sees
Is a deity

As the verses heard
Respoken
Are unto me.
Flung sparks god’s creativity
