From Thorns To Roses

We all long, long for the smell of roses
But we all fall, fall in the wrath of thorns
Chasing an escape from this hell we live in
Looking for something to put our hope in

We look for the Truth
But we settle for lies
We try to escape the pain
But we chase the disguise
You fall for the drugs
To escape this life
Drinkin the booze
To run from the strife

The stars, the stars in the sky
Are all fallin, fallin to die
No matter how far we go
Life is leading us to such a low

God has his arms wide open
Waiting to be one we put our hope in
But you have to open your eyes and see
See the lives we’re called to lead

I’m running to his arms
And avoiding life’s harms
Longing to fly to heaven on a dove
Because I’m falling into God’s love

We all long, long for the smell of roses
But we all fall, fall in the wrath of thorns
Chasing an escape from this hell we live in
Looking for something to put our hope in
