From The Workshop Collection-Good Knight Jen

I almost cry when

Entering the mourning den

You Jen

My dear departing childhood friend

Would send

Romantic sensations

Make my pumping special heart racing

Before facing

Reality at large

Sailing along, working the pensionary barge

Sweating in the hot sun

Until the laboring is done

We meet for fun

Then

Jen

Acting like, Barbie and Ken

Fences never needed to be mend

Due to our royal trust

Shiny strong, never a rust

That could go bust

Promises our blood made

Prologue to the evil’s invade

Pretending to trade

Suddenly someone screamed, ‘raid’

While we picked up our grades

Dear Lord, we prayed

What did both of us know

During a time of maturing and grow

Until it was time to go

Investing in the University system

And their four-year mission

Studying where our skills are

Passing the academic bar

Checking the midnight diner plates

Life was challenging and great

But I failed to defend

Jen

My lifelong friend

Now

You are dolled up, for the eternal bow

Everyone grumbles and growls

Saying goodbye

As you lie

In the den

When

We were truly Barbie and Ken

Wearing innocent clothes

Not having any foes

Until today

Our enemies will pay

For what they did

Sending you to an early crypt

Next time different things will be

If warned, ‘coming land or sea’

We will believe

Freedom will ring

Allowing everyone to sing

Show God our relationship bling

And the commitment ring

Reminding the judge, we will always be Queen and King

Of the Monarch, I rule

Despite uncontrollable events that are ever so cruel
