From Jackson Street To 'E' Street
From Jackson Street to ‘E’ Street
Seems like it’s not that far
But that depends on how you look at it.
It depends on where you are.
You see, Jackson Street is the dope street
Where the so-called low life lurches.
‘E’ Street is where the Christians go.
It’s the street with all the churches.
The people on Jackson Street party down.
They really know how to have fun.
They just won’t admit the dope is taking
Them all one by one.
It’s hard to admit when you’re having fun
That you’re not having fun at all.
When you realize you’re smoking up your life
Fun is not what that’s called.
So you start looking over at ‘E’ Street
Calling on the name of the Lord.
He’s on Jackson Street too. He hears you.
He knows your journey is hard.
You don’t want anyone to know
In case you’re not strong enough to do it.
When you called His name He went to work.
He’s gonna see you through it.
Even if you fall, get back up
And call on Him again.
He’ll walk with you step by step.
There is no better friend.
Nobody’s really happy on Jackson Street
But if you find yourself there one day
Remember from Jackson Street to ‘E’ Street
Is a mighty, mighty long way.
