From High On Life's Cliff

Leap from the bed, need to stay ahead
of the upstart pack, baying for bloodshed

Visions of the abyss, from high on life's cliff
spur me to fight the daily battle for bread

Ha, ha. Already retired. Planned extensively, but mostly for naught, as 'A mensch tracht, un Got laght,' = Man plans, and God laughs! Thanks, Stan. Best wishes, Gershon

I love the wording, how it flows and all sounds together in a way that emphasizes the intensity in the messages 'feel'. There is some degree of truth in this write for each individual, from a little bit to totally! Poetry hugs ... CayCay

CayCay, your in-depth commentaries always bring joy to my heart. It is wonderful to have a reader who analyzes these poems so thoroughly. Thank you so much! Best wishes, Gershon

"the daily battle for bread" . It made me smile as I am sure the upstarts have no idea that we used to use the word bread for money. Sweet word twist my friend!

Actually, hadn't thought of 'bread' that way here. I honestly meant (a few crumbs of) bread. It's just great when readers like you uncover more meaning in the poem than I thought I put in. :) gw
