From Despair To Hope

I kept waiting to be saved somehow by You
Fervently praying for this gut-wrenching pain to end
My screams and pleas seem to fall on deaf ears
But I didn't realize You were intently listening then

Fear had enveloped me like the darkest night
There was no moon, nor starry lights
Despair and loneliness was all I could see
This pitiable soul was a stranger even to me

The glimmer of hope I once held so dear
Evaporating like morning mist, just disappeared
A shell of a person was left behind in its wake
Completely withdrawn, numb for preservation sake

But something inside of me still wanted to feel
I wanted to experience the warmth of the hope You give
So I made the decision not to give up but to fight instead
I chose to trust You, forgive him, and learn again to live
