From darkness to light

Hemmed in by senses five and mind,
closed heart, far from loving and kind,
knowing not who in truth we are,
from God’s light soul’s drifted afar,
dead man walking, desires stalking,
deaf to truth’s voice in heart knocking,
we yet can to heaven ascend,
if but only our will we bend,
living life at an easy pace,
slowing down thought, invoking grace,
whence with no agenda tabled,
touched by God, we are enabled.
