Notes About The Poem

FRIZZY-HAIRED MASCOT

Humidity didn’t just arrive today~
it descended,
a damp celestial overlord
turning Texas into its own personal terrarium.

My clothes clung to me
like needy toddlers
refusing to be put down.

The air grew so thick
I considered cutting a doorway through it
just to walk to the kitchen.

The frizzy-haired squirrel
became humidity’s chosen mascot,

Even the sky looked exhausted~
sweaty, sagging,
like it needed a cold drink
and a long nap.

And still humidity whispered,
with the confidence of a moist tyrant:
You’re not going anywhere dry today.

Ooh, that Texas humidity sounds miserable - nice personification.

Nothing worse than high humidity in Texas... I have it on faith from my grandmother and my mom.

I  enjoyed reading your fun "FRIZZY-HAIRED MASCOT" write. What a cute/great picture you have here. Please give your friend some hair conditioner. He really needs it. Hahaha!!!! I know humidity will do in hair/body/clothes. Have a fun day writing away.............

Dear Sara, you’ve turned a Texas humidity day into pure comic gold. I love how you let the air itself become a character with that “moist tyrant” line, which had me laughing out loud. And the frizzy-haired squirrel as the day’s unwilling mascot? Perfect. You always manage to take the ordinary and make it sparkle with wit and personality. Blessings, Daniel
