Friendships
In times when friends are far
and loneliness chills our bones.
We look back to long ago,
the times we had in our youth,
and wonder who and what we are.
How each person we ever met;
rubbing elbows, contemplating,
Agreeing, agreeing to disagree.
Gave us a small piece of themselves,
not much, but enough to change us.
I love my past. I appreciate those in it.
Even those forgotten gave me something
to ponder as I stand on the threshold
of the rest of my life. Not alone in muse.
Though I may be alone in comfort.
