Friendship
You were my friend so long ago
We laughed and played as children do.
The images of that precious time
Have lasted in my memory.
The wonder of the gift God gave
Has stayed so clearly in my mind
Where I can view the sweet refrain
And relive your gift of time.
So many moments I recall
of childhood games and plans.
I learned that time is never lost
Or wasted in its changing tide.
The vapor of your friendship
As dew spread across the dawn
Both nourish and strengthen me
Every moment of my life.
Though each precious company
Lasted a short time.
You marked my soul eternally.
And helped make me who I am.
Worry not in moments spent
When conflict within our days arose.
This taught us the truth of compromise
And developed flavor in our lives.
God gave us time to shape us
On His potter's wheel.
You helped to mark me with your soul
Everyday day from first we met.
I never will forget the blessings
Your friendship within me wrought.
Time spent with friendships ebb and flow
Remains alive eternally.
