I agree completely. My parents used to tell me "pick your friends carefully" but I always found that hard to understand. My feeling was always "You cannot choose your friends, you choose to whom you wish to BE a friend to." I thought that being a friend, and getting that friendship returned was what everyone should want. No conditions, no expectations, no demands, friendship, caring, finding joy in a friend's smile...That is what it is all about! Great poem, thank you for sharing. Ron
