Friends To the End

I know we never met, really, never saw each other.
That isn’t something that should even have relevance.
Realize, dear friend, that through our correspondence
We have grown closer, a friendship with elegance.

I have come to know you, your dreams and wishes
And you, oh friend, now know me, equally, as well.
Those secrets in your heart and your wonderful mind,
Don’t worry, they’re safe with me. I’ll never tell.

I have come to know you, the person that you are and
The things, your essence, that keep you going each day.
I know your fears, your hopes, and even your desires
And that there are things you will never wish away.

You have come to know me, my thoughts and dreams,
The way I view life and my feelings for all.
You are a true friend, perhaps more another time,
But know this, I’ll come when you beckon and call.

For, our friendship, something I value more than myself,
It dictates that on me you can always, in every way, depend.
You have my love. You have my thoughts and prayers.
You have all of me! We are friends to the end!
