Notes About The Poem

To keep your friends, don't discuss politics; unless they are really good friends with very open minds.

Friends and Politics

Friends and Politics
By Franklin Price

Mixing friends with politics
Is such a sight to see
Unless we lean the same way
There could be new names for me

There's something I don't understand
Is it me that is your friend,
Or the politics we follow,
That makes our friendship end?

Think what you're about to say
Before you go berserk
To make uncaring statements,
To friends just doesn't work

If they care what they believe,
It could just drive them wild,
Almost as bad as saying,
Your grandkid's such an ugly child

Ugliness prompts ugliness
Send stupid to the dump
If we have learned nothing else,
Should have learned this from the Trump

Don't try to guess which side I'm on
Don't attempt to break the glass
I want you to remain my friend
Don't be a stupid ass
