And you didn't know it, because I was wrong. I blew it. Although Clay/Ali was sentenced to prison, he stayed out of jail for years on appeal. So he never served any time. I'll be updating the poem right away, as integrity is at stake here! Best wishes, gw

I did not know this. I knew he was a champion prize fighter, and I knew he re-named himself. But the jail part is a complete surprise to me. I am looking him up now.

And no doubt you found that I was wrong here. Although Clay/Ali was sentenced to jail, he never served any time. He stayed out on appeal for years. "My bad," as they say these days...I'll be updating this clerihew, as integrity is at stake here! :) gw
