Freedom

Always under attack,
Always being beat,
Never getting a chance to
Breath.

You don't understand why
It seems that there's so many
People against you. No where is
Safe.

Walk the streets alone,
Hide in the shadows and
Hope to God that they won't find
You.

Their cruelty has lasted for
Years. You can't count the scars that decorate
Your back. Can't count the times they abused
You.

They follow you when you walk home,
They watch you as you try to get work,
They laugh as you struggle to live the American
Dream.

Freedom was granted to you
They granted freedom from being
Their slaves, but how free is the Hell you live
In?

Let me ask you something,
Are you free when you constantly have to
Look over your shoulder in hopes they aren't
There.

There's a cross burning in your yard,
Their chanting as they gather around it.
A body is swinging slowly back and forth on a
Noose.

Close your eyes and pray.
Pray that God will be more forgiving.
Close your eyes so you can't see their
Faces.

Don't scream, it'll do nothing.
They'll only laugh at pain.
When you're dead, the police won't do
Anything.
