Free Verse Fever
My eyes danced in a room full of strangers
Then fixed on one and wondered if he could kiss.
But what I didn’t yet know was he saw me too.
He saw me through the eyes of confusion.
Who is she and why don’t I know her,
My parents are deaf and I know everyone in the county who can sign!
That was April of twenty one years ago.
It was an attraction that has not gotten dim
Nor has it lost any light
It was an attraction that set the stage
For twenty years of marriage delight.
And I must say that on that first day
The attraction was not for the way he smelled
I remember that as being a little bit yuck,
But that was just my luck.
I went passed the nose and for so much more
I got the guy whose love and life I could share.
