Free from Cages

Lucy didn’t have a thing to do
So, off she went to a nearby zoo

Studying the animals, most in cages
      Lucy sang her freedom’s praises

Hi Gershon, I remember as a child visiting the old school Bronx zoo. Back then the animals were mostly in cages and I sadly remember zoo visitors feeding the overweight gorillas Cracker Jack popcorn. But I heard over the years it has become a wonderful zoo for the animals with lush habitats and nutritious diets for them too. Good penning as usual. Shalom :)

Here in Chicago, zoos are better as well. But many animals are still caged in fairly tight straits. And even a 'habitat' has its limits. OK. I always wonder who is watching whom when at the zoo. ~ gw

Ain't that the truth. Zoo is a good meditation. Or walk the streets of poverty and crime....

There you go, Joe. Which is the real zoo these days?

good for Lucy! seeing caged animals is unnerving. I always think of the song and movie "Born Free."

'Born Free' - that's the antidote, alright. Thanks Sara.
