Free Cee Where Do I Sit
i walked into a strange place uncertain of anything or anyone
when my eyes espied a lady who looked as if she knew what i should do
"exuse me," i said, "but can you tell me where i can sit to avoid the searing sun?"
and she looked at me as if to say "if i seem startled it's because i've never met anyone like you"
now i will admit in certain venues i seem totally out of place
and this particular dining room was certainly no exception
she pointed to an empty seat with concern and with grace
and didn't demand i exit with haste and exemption
she seemed to me to be a waitress who had long been around
yet my appearance seemed to leave the woman thoroughly aghast
if you ask me it appeared she'd rather i'd have been seated in the lost and found
because as i stated she didn't seem as if i fit in her present or her past
she steared me to an empty seat where i ordered a donut and a beer
and all the while stared at me as though i were from outer space
the femininity of her eyes revealed a mixture of confusion and of fear
as astonishment replaced the gentility of her face
the donut was stale as was the beer
but i couldn't avoid the look of bewilderment buried in her eyes
i tried to act casual everytime that she drew near
while she reflected a countenance of sacredness and a soul so winsomly wise
finally my curiosity got the better of me
so i summoned over a different waitress to inquire not about the beer
i queried the new waitress why the first had treated me as strangely as can be
and that's when i discovered that angels like the first waitress can work anywhere
