THE REASON A CLOWN BARES A FROWN

I knew
I once knew
I knew you
I once knew you

I dreamed
I once dreamed of you
I had hope
I once had the hope of you

I had forever
I once had forever with you
I was deemed a smile
I was once deemed a smile by you

I had Rio
I once had Rio with you
I danced
I once danced delightfully with you

I had a carnival
I once had a carnival
I had circus clowns
I once had a circus and circus clowns with you

Now the circus is over
The big top has been stripped bare
The carnival is now enduringly closed
And I am no longer fascinated by your feminine flair
