MOAN CHERIE

I knew you were mine before you were really mine
Dreamed up by a declarative design
Declared by destiny as duly sworn to dutifully adore each moment shared together
I knew two Augusts ago that this early May day we would share a picnic in a park with pigeons perched on posters of peace signs with all the signs of summer near
Yet fear not my dear for the clouds this day are deemed to quickly clear
As you decant me a glass of decadence and a large cup of opulence
And everything about this moment makes perfect sense
As we shed not our clothing but every perfect pretense
While blueberries grow close by on Mother Nature’s vine
Because I knew you were mine before you were really mine
