Free Cee If

"if" is a very "iffy" word
a word i've too often heard
"if" as in "if i'd never met you"
and "if" as in "if i could forget you'

there is a lot to the little word "if"
for instance "what if i jump off this cliff?"
"if i jump what will become of me?"
and how many bags of this dope will it take to numb me

what if i have a cup of cold coffee and warm beer?
what if, like Van Gogh, I send you my severed ear?
what if if our little arguments turn into one huge tiff
because there's so much in the middle of the simple little word "if"

"if" can be an "iffy" word for sure
Like "IF i survive today can i continue to endure
there are too many litttle"ifs" in this junkie's life of mine
and sometimes I wonder "what if" this dope is too pure?"

i remember all of the annoying "ifs" you used to use
"ifs" that left me thoroughly consused
i recall all the destructive "ifs" you employed to make me grieve
so i ask you now, "would you really ever smile again IF i were finally to leave?
