Free Cee a Casualty of Gore
A CASUALTY OF GORE
Whenever I am compelled to consider the worst
I find myself forced to think of the first
The one of whom no one ever came before
The first soldier to die in any wicked war
The first fallen who fought for what was right
The first who was killed by others madness and might
The first blood spilled, the first blood bled
The first under battle to begotten dead
Gettysburg, Normandy, and Viet Nam
Blood begotten and no one gives a damn
The first fallen in the face of ferocious fear
The first to die for what he held dear
I never fought desperately for country nor man
Cowardice and convenience had a disparate plan
Still I summon a prayer with every bomb’s burst
While I feel for the most recent yet wail for the first
