Notes About The Poem

THE TITLE IS TAKEN FROM A SONG BY LYNYRD SKYNYRD

Free Bird

Today I’m feeling rather down
Can’t always be happy and be a clown

I will sit and be a quiet bird
No pretty song will be heard

I’ll hide my head under my wing
And shed a tear instead of sing

The sun is shining it’s a lovely day
Wish I could spread my wings and fly away

Guess on days when life is tough
Being a wild bird just isn’t enough

Tomorrow I’ll spread my wings and fly
Look out for me I’ll be in the sky

So if you see me circling round
Throw a crumb I’ll swoop to the ground

I’ll eat the crumb and be refreshed
And back to happy which is the best

A charming write here Jan. I think we all imagine birds as free and happy. I guess we never realize they too can have feelings of unhappiness as well...even though they are free to fly where ever they like. Same as us...we all have our days as well. This one made me think and thinking is a great thing -yes? LOL Very nice! MC
