Free At Last
What right do you have to put me down?
Why do you try to replace my smile with a frown?
It is within each and every one of us to achieve greatness,
We can rise to the challenge and accept nothing but the best.
We were all created equally I suppose,
So why do you laugh in my face and turn up your nose?
Is it that you think my dreams will never become a reality?
Or you want me to hang my head and wallow in self pity?
What gives you the right to take away my freedom of choice?
Why do you insist to speak to me in that tone of voice?
We can be whatever we want to be,
We can rise up and fulfill our destiny.
We refuse to be defined by our past,
We shall rise like the phoenix and be free at last.
Our dreams we can and must realize,
No more putting us down, no more lies.
It is time for us to put our plans in action,
It is time for us to surpass our own expectation.
Today I am finally free to stand tall with pride,
Today my true feelings I will no longer hide.
For too long you have filled my mind with things from the past,
Today I rise up because I am free at last.
