Free and Fair Elections
Now, rarer than a virgin
By a very wide margin
And being forced to take Eagle’s flights
From polling stations of Ugly fights.
In many countries
Being hanged on their tallest trees
And given a cause to grip ‘The Rescuing Near’
All the time wearing some bitter tear
Free-and-fair Election
Needs the greater protection
Of Transparent-Election-Promoting pictures
And Political- Sanity-Restoring lectures…
Camera-brandishing foreign observers!
And Democracy’s fiercer preservers!
Inconsolably begins to weep
As the polls draw nearer
It, unfailingly going down the deep
With the manipulations of every flag bearer.
A headache-lot worrying the United States,
When kicked around by other states
But lately her name nearly dragging in the mud,
When her forty-sixth presidential appeared to have gone mad.
Now, why would elections be fair
Covetous Eyes on victory, the snare
Year by year elections
To continue dying in the arms of advance elections?
Not in itself, giver of good governance
When on the cherished seat balances a mere Breathing Thing
With that unleashing a painful endurance of a four-year Administrative Nothing.
