Fred Regrets Having Retired

Retirement Fred began to rue
For Penny said, “I retire too.”
“Both outside and inside there
You will now do your share.”
“Don’t give that pitiful look.
It’s your turn the meal to cook.”
“I’m not going to slave all day
While you watch TV and play.”
“Be sure to wash the dishes too
Then there’ll be more work for you.”
“Half the time you wash clothes.
And of the garbage dispose.”
A development he hadn’t foreseen
For which Fred wasn’t very keen
Though disgust he couldn’t hide
He knew fairness was on her side
Learning what he’d have to do,
Taking retirement Fred did rue
