Fragmentary Blue

the sun comes up in the morning
the sun goes down in the evening
and all day long
the sun and sky overhead are

fragmentary blue

the black clouds break the sky
the black clouds break the sun
a drop of rain fall through clouds
to the ground like a tear is

fragmentary blue

the white side of the sun
the black side of the moon
our sky intersects the edge of
space’s blackness to become

fragmentary blue

my dreams wash in with the tide
my dreams wash out with the moon
but I cling to them like the beach
so as not myself become

fragmentary blue
