Fox Park

We walked then together
into the park
and down the rocky path to the lake
around, around again
in the distance we saw people you knew
and nodded
as if everything was usual
but here we were
out of bed for the first time in days
getting some air
squinting, smiling, kissing in the sunlight
in broad daylight
giving our selves to the world
working up our appetites.
