Fossil

I found a fossil hiding 
near something overgrown,
a historical handprint etched 
in a slab of ancient stone.

I trace the imprint idly
and marvel at its design-
the grooves coil and curve around,
and then become entwined.

Very nice and well written, sounds like an ammonite, I've been a fossil and mineral hunter for many years. Congratulations on you placement.
