Forty Percent

Giving out
To drink it in
Like air to breathe
And inhale sin

All other sorts
Of spirits soar
Look through the glass
A life which bore
A hole in me
Now mend a patch
And stop the cycle
In its path

One day prevent
A further pain
And take the needle
From my vein
Or drink to death
And won't be far
In trip I take
From bar to bar
