Fortunate Camaraderie
now when i talk of our fortunate nature
i do not speak of relationships
which started in physical romance &
bloomed into something that society
deems appropriate,
i do not speak of those friendships bred by
the dollar, for the dollar & in the name of
the dollar &
i definitely do not speak of those connections
that are said to extend beyond the grave,
as nothing does
(we all become ash one way or the other),
what is valuable between us is our ability
to discover one another via
the interests of which we share &
the struggles of which we endure,
without obligation &
without need---
this purest form of camaraderie
is what extends through time
watching each other as we age
moving to & fro
but always coming back to the bond
shared
in knowing just how lucky we were
to bump into each other.
