Fortress Europe
So many people surviving on hope
risking their lives to reach fortress Europe
how do you choose which route take
walk 2000 miles or take your chances to float
The beaches of Lesbos ,where so many have died
they have wept oceans ,these women that cry
their children washed up on the shores of that land
picked up like driftwood lying grey in the sand
nameless and voiceless these lives that we've lost
how can we recover what is the true cost?
Cause after the Nazis ,we said "never again"
and yet here we are relieving that pain
How can they allow this, these powers that be
to shut out these people, let them die in this sea
The world never had borders ,till man came along
and built up defences, and got so much wrong
Let's have faith in each other, and let them in
they've been through so much horror ,in the place where they've been
give them back hope and a place to call home
Show them love and compassion in some
as who would wish anything like this on their own
Let's get rid of these monsters ,who would have this so
they can make more power and money
make their machines go
We don't wanna live in a fortress like this
we want to live where theres freedom and bliss
So let's knock them down ,any fences and walls
Let's take them down and have freedom for all!
