Forgotten Soldier Service to my family, those I love with my whole heart. Service to my country, the nation that I hold dear. Service to my God, there is no higher calling… as it gives worth and value, to the life I willing sacrifice. The red, the white the blue. Honor, duty, and loyalty, colors that never run. Men of honor, faces of heroes. Stars of white on a blue field. Dreams of men and women, from the beginning until forever. A country worth fighting for. A country worth protecting. Democracy and freedom… Reign! Liberty, justice, knights of the past! Stand tall, remember for all. “We the people”… Race, creed color, religion… “One!”

SACRIFICE Personified And yet called on later to Justify. Then cast aside when they are in need of our help. What then did they Sacrife for if in return we care no more.

I never tire of hearing/reading praise for soldiers and for the country. And I always cry. (My grandkids are soooo embarrassed, as teenagers are wont to be). Thanks for posting this, Ann. Best wishes and Happy Labor Day, Gershon

there was a time when soldiers were less forgotten and welcomed home with parades ... this world we are in now seems to careless about their life, their service, their sacrifice... love this poem! Great penning my friend...have a great weekend :) hugs

We need more parades. I loved the forth of July celebration they had with all the military. We need that more. We need that often. We need to remember. Have a truly lovely day my friend. Flowers of many colors, show up when you least expect. Ann

The world, not just the "star spangled banner", should unite as "One". I do understand this poem, implicitly, and it conveys so much that so many ignorantly avoid in their day to day life. It is quite clear now, in our present time, that our world, not only humans, but the wildlife and nature (environment) that we share our lives with are dying. If humanity could put aside war, winning ('ego' on materialistic levels), destruction on humane and environmental levels - there might be hope for us. Faith and belief in something so much more powerful and bigger than us, needs to be recalled.

We are all in trouble. We need to do better, or we are lost. Have the very nicest day. There is irrigation outside today. It is like an inland sea. So beautiful... And the dogs... they think they are mermaids.. lol

It is a shame, that the history of the men and women, on all sides who fought in all our past wars, for a world free of war - those who sacrificed their lives and those who survived with the history to pass onto us through their stories, to impart to us, that we must never sink that low again - have been largely ignored by all...this to our present detriment. Strongly written Ann and delivered in your thoughts for all to read/understand. Thank you
