Forgotten Secret

Deep within the woods
Underneath the leaves and pines
Is a dirty little secret
Some monster left behind

Across town in a tiny house
That sits back off the steet
A family is searching for a loved one
Distraught and heartbroken week after week

The angel that they search for
Was only 8 years old
Full of love and laughter
That filled their tiny home

On her way home from school one day
She took a different path
Following a beautiful butterfly
She just had to have

Never did she fear a bit
Her soul was so carefree
The monster lurked and jumped at her
Making not a peep

He took her to his favorite spot
A place with all his treasures
There he'd taunt and terrorize her
All for his sick pleasures

When he was done, had had his fun
He couldn't let her go
He knew she'd tell on him
Barring his secrets, all of them exposed

There he dug a shallow hole
Just deep enough so she wouldn't show
There he left her all alone
This beautiful forgotten soul
