Forgotten Prairie
this forgotten prairie
surrounded by forgotten faces
has grown roots around my feet
trapping me under the silent sun
my blood runs green
gazing at the birds high above
watching them leave this withering land
they taught me how to fly
but I'm buried in this sand
I wish I could run
I wish I would scream
but nobody can hear me
not even in my dreams
it's no use
this land laid claim to me
life goes on without me
she left me behind
she didn't notice when
my feet caught in the wild grass
it shouldn't make me so upset
for where would I go
who would listen
nobody
because I have a forgotten prairie in me
