Forgotten Heart

The fire within me
Extinguished with rain that fell 
Salty tears as ocean spray
But heavy droplets
I have been left only smoldering 
A long ago pyre 
Left in ash scattered now
Bits and jagged pieces of crumbling
Driftwood
Consumed and left among
The sandy beach
Which was once a resilient soul
Of a young girl
The forgotten heart
Obliterated by wind and storm
I tried once more...
