Forgotten Beauties

The new owners
marveled at the
long forgotten perky mini doilies
with their dainty white petals

two layers of weeds away
from soft pink hollyhocks
hidden for forty years
alongside the forgotten abandoned barn

a human had probably not seen
any of these dainty delights since the eighties
when the farm was lost by the family
to bankruptcy

Caren, it's sad when places are abandoned, but there's a hopeful scenario with the new owners. Lovely poem. Hugs and blessings, Susan

Yes, and when the new owners find these beauties, I hope they transplant them to the garden near the house.
