Forgotten

Dated photos lay crumpled
On the floor

I kneel next to them,
Shoulders hunched

I can't remember
If they belong to me.

The little girl looking out
From the photos

Has light brown ringlets
That dangle at her cheeks,

A dandelion crown lay
Lopsided atop her head.

Sunshine illuminates
Her hazel eyes

As tears fill mine,
Spilling over and splashing

Onto the photo like rain.

A quite despairing piece, very well expressed.
