Forgotten

Water to water,
Blood to blood,
Rain comes,
taste fear,
smell fear,
Run!
Where?
They’re coming,
thorns, leaves,
feel but can’t,
no understanding,
hear shouts, screams,
vines tangle, roots trip,
Lost, forgotten,
Broken tired,
Must keep going,
pounding feet,
breathing hard,
Heart’s rushing beat,
Wind’s lying whistle,
Sun, Warmth, Safe,
Howling, No!
They’re still coming,
Anger, Fear,
broken soul,
numb, pain all forgotten,
time slows, still,
red drips,
hunted, Arrows,
must keep going,
body exhausted,
very little left,
Why?
Why must they hunt?
I am only one.
the forgotten one.
I fade, remember, must not,
must go on,
must run,
no sanctuary,
the hated one,
rushing water, thirsty, stop, rest,
pain comes,
must ignore,
move, stiff, collapse,
fall, dirt,
get up, run, walk,
slow,
hurt,
pain, long forgotten,
stop, A statue, silence, freeze,
quiet, breeze,
forgotten past,
no future,
all lost,
hope fades, pain leaves,
time stops, dark comes,
slowly drop,
leaves, twigs,
the hated, the forgotten,
heart gives, lungs quit,
All fades to light and mist,
all that’s left, bloody footprints in the forest floor.
No one mourns.
