Forgiveness was the Silence

fist through glass mad
actually it was in a knocking position
however, my disposition wasn’t good
shattered my anger; brought
blood, sweat and tears

forgiveness was the silence
my parents were golden

It hurts me to think of this. This a powerful poem about wounds, but if your parents are golden, it's because of you. In my opinion,...."forgiveness"....I understand the message of it being silent. <3

This is a very raw, impactful, and concise piece that tells a powerful story in just a few lines.

I regret my brain doesn't understand but I know I would have prior to TBI. I get the gist and love the imagery (can one love violent, sad imagery?) I'm sure this is dynamic, a hot gem. Forgive my noggin, it is a pest of a problem. When I 'screwed up' as a teen, my Dad gave me the silent treatment and I was glad but grown I realized it was because he didn't really quite know what to say/do. Have I got the picture?

Usually our basement door was open but my mom kept locking it. I was a teen and banged on the glass. I learned my lesson. My mom must have helped me clean up and my dad replaced the glass, never saying a word about it. I cut myself on the glass, bleeding, crying, quite upset at what I had done.
