Forgiveness

Times there are, when I fume and fret.
Much lost and depressed, I do regret;
I ask myself, having all anger thus spent,
Why did I hit not back that moment?
When they inflicted on me untold pain;
Now, only hatred in my heart does reign.
Should I forgive and forget? I question,
But I only meet with utter confusion,
Then I turn to my Lord for guidance,
Pleading wisdom, compassion, kindness
That steers mind to my own trespasses,
